Men's Basketball earns road win at Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team defeated UW-Whitewater 76-59 Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons improve to 9-10 overall and 3-5 among WIAC competition.

Logan Jedwabny played 32 minutes and led the Falcons with 17 points, shooting 5-of-9 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. UWRF shot 7-of-15 (46.7%) from long-range, its best percentage since Nov. 22.

The Falcons out-rebounded the Warhawks 40-29, and led 36-22 in the paint. UWRF also had contributions throughout the lineup, with 12 Falcons in the scoring column and 28 points off the bench.

In the first half, the Falcons held the home team to a 1-for-9 ledger from three-point range, and led for most of the half. A pair of Elijah Smith free throws gave UWRF its largest lead of the period at 34-26.

Up by six heading into the second half, the Falcons didn't look back, extending their lead to double digits under two minutes in with a Rodrick Payne dunk, followed by a Jedwabny triple.

UWRF led by as many as 22 with a Tyler Curvey jumper (73-51) with just over two minutes remaining, and the Falcons cruised to victory.

Mason Anderson trailed Jedwabny with 13 points, followed by eight from Marshall Holland and a season/career-high seven for Curvey. Holland led with eight rebounds and four steals.

The Falcons head to UW-Eau Claire next Wednesday, Jan. 21.
