SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Twin Ports Open on Saturday, Jan. 21, hosted by UW-Superior.
The Falcon men compiled four first-place finishes, while the women tallied three.
Sprinter
Kemarri Stewart headlined the men's effort, running the 60-meter dash with a first-place time of 6.99. Teammate
Isaiah O'Connor was the runner-up at 7.11. Stewart also ran 6.95 in the 60-meter prelims, and he placed second in the 200-meter dash at 22.84.
Dylan Wachter,
Yaih Marial, and
Joe Stauffer also earned top finishes for the UWRF men.
Wachter won the 400-meter with a time of 50.64, Marial won the high jump at 1.96 meters, and Stauffer won the pole vaul at 4.6 meters.
Lexi LeFever led the women, winning the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.68. She also earned a runner-up 16' 7.25" long jump.
Freshman
Annika Gunderson won the pole vault at 12' 0.75" (3.68 meters), breaking a UWRF indoor record. Riley Claude previously held the record at 3.67 meters, set in 2015.
In addition, the women's distance medley crew of
Peyton Opsahl,
Marlee Dietrich,
Cailyn Kuechle, and
Erin Borash finished first with a time of 14:01.80.
Up next, UWRF heads to the University of Minnesota's Jack Johnson Classic Jan. 27-28.
