RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The UW-River Falls volleyball battled the No 2 UW-Oshkosh Titans to a thrilling five set match Friday evening at Page Arena.
The Titans took the first two sets of the night winning 25-22 and 25-18.
In the third set, the Falcons played down most of the set until
Kameri Meredith hit a shot to give the Falcons the 20-19 lead. The two teams traded points until the end when UWO made back-to-back errors and
Katelyn Nichols came up big with a block that gave the Falcons the 26-24 win.
UWRF carried the momentum into the fourth set dominating the Titans 25-11. The Falcons hit an impressive .571 to the Titans -.087.
The fifth set went in favor of the Titans 15-8.
On the night, Falcon defense held the Titans to a .175 hitting percentage and forced them to make 25 attack errors.
Overall, the Falcons hit .174 and had 59 kills. They were led offensively by
Kameri Meredith and
Lauren Noth who each had 14 kills.
Sami Hilley had 10 kills and hit .421 and
Katelyn Nichols hit .391 with 11 kills.
Defensively,
Brenna Olson had 18 digs and
Katelyn Nichols had four blocks.
Grace Boles assisted on 19 attacks.
UWRF (17-8, 2-3 WIAC) hosts UW-Eau Claire in a midweek matchup next week on Wednesday night. First set will begin at 7 pm.
