RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team suffered a 2-1 loss to the No. 6 UW-Eau Claire Blugolds Saturday night at Hunt Arena.
UWEC scored a goal in both the second and third period. The first came on the power play opportunity after
Jonny Meiers was called for interference. Their goal in the third was a shorthand goal.
The Falcons cut the Blugold lead in half with a goal by
Valentino Passarelli in the third period at 13:42. Assisting him on the goal was
Aidan Torres and
Sam Anzai.
In the final two minutes of the third period, the Falcons pulled the goaltender for an additional skater. They were able to put up three shots on goal but none made it past the Blugold goaltender.
The Blugolds outshot the Falcons 29-23.
Dean Buchholz took the loss in goal. He collected 27 saves in his 58 minutes of play.
The Falcons now 4-3-0 on the season and 1-2-0 in WIAC play are off till December when they face UW-Stevens Point.
