RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's basketball team defeated Northland College 72-38 Friday evening at Page Arena in its first of two games hosting the Radisson Holiday Classic.
The Falcons, now 5-5 overall, collected a season-high 57 rebounds while limiting the Lumberjacks to a 25 percent field goal percentage. UWRF's 57 rebounds is the most in program history since the Falcons tallied 63 against North Central 17 years ago to the date, Dec. 29, 2006.
UWRF outscored Northland 32-24 in the first half and came out of the break with a strong final 20 minutes, holding the visitors to a 5-of-31 mark from the field and 1-of-11 ledger from beyond the arc while shooting nearly 50 percent with a mark of 16-of-34. The Falcons led by as many as 35 late in regulation after a
Tyler Curvey triple.
Marshall Holland led the Falcons with a season-high 12 rebounds while
Jack Leifker led the scoring effort with 14 points, trailed by 12 points each from
Logan Jedwabny and
Noah Hanson.
Will Van Scoy led the team with three assists while
Jacob Butler had three steals.
The Falcons host North Central University tomorrow at 7 p.m.
