WAVERLY, Iowa - The UW-River Falls women's basketball team fell 67-60 against WashU in its first of two games at the Wartburg College Holiday Tournament Friday afternoon.
The loss snaps the Falcons' eight-game winning streak as their overall records drops to 8-2 on the season.
UWRF got off to a slow start in which they were unable to overcome despite a strong comeback effort in the fourth quarter. WashU took a 25-7 lead in the first quarter and led by as many as 28 and the Falcons fought back to cut the Bears' lead to five late in regulation.
WashU held the Falcons to just 34 percent shooting from the field while the Bears took advantage of 25 Falcon fouls, going 20-of-25 at the charity stripe.
Macy Nilsen led UWRF with a season-high 29 points, shooting 11-of-24 from the field.
UWRF faces Crown College tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the consolation final.
