RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin – River Falls men's hockey team picked up a 5-2 WIAC win over conference rival UW-Stout Friday night at Hunt Arena.
It was the Blue Devils who got on the board first scoring at 9:32 on the power play opportunity. The Falcons answered back with three goals the remainder of the period.
Sam Anzai scored the first at 13:04.
Max Collette increased the Falcons lead to 2-1 when he scored 17:42 into the period. In the final minute of play in the period,
Noah Roofe scored to give the Falcons the 3-1 going into the first period break.
Arsenii Smekhnov took a pass from Anzai and
Alex Davis in the sixth minute of the second period to move the Falcons ahead 4-1. Stout added another power play goal at 15:56.
In the third period,
Brock Weimer scored at 5:37 to take the Falcons to 5-2.
The Falcons had 33 shots on goal.
Dean Buchholz collected the win in goal with 42 saves.
UWRF, who is now 6-4-0 on the season and 3-3-0 in WIAC play, travels to Menomonie to take on the Blue Devils in night two of the weekend double header.
