MENOMONIE, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's hockey team fell 7-4 at UW-Stout Saturday evening.
The Falcon settle for the weekend split versus the Blue Devils, coming off a win last night at home.
Trailing 4-0 after the first period,
Dylan Smith led a Falcon comeback attempt with a hat trick in the second period along, including a pair of power play goals, trimming the Blue Devil lead to 5-3 after 40 minutes.
UWRF outshot Stout 11-8 in the final frame, but the home team opened the third period scoring to extend the Blue Devil lead to 6-3.Â
Noah Roofe scored late to cut the Stout lead to 6-4, and the Falcons pulled their goalie
Dysen Skinner for an extra attacker, but the Blue Devils scored an empty netter to put the game out of reach.
UW-Stout outshot the Falcons 33-24. Stout went 3-for-5 on the power play while the Falcons went 2-for-3.
Burke Simpson finished with two assists, while Skinner suffered the loss in net, allowing two goals.
Dean Buchholz started in goal and allowed four goals before being relieved by Skinner.
The Falcons are at home next week for a nonconference series at home against Lawrence University Dec. 14-15.
