MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The UW-River Falls men's and women's track & field teams officially opened the 2023-24 indoor season on Friday at day one of the University of Minnesota's M City Classic.
The Falcon men and women combined for several personal records.
Isaiah O'Connor headlined the Falcons' day with a school record long jump of 23 feet, 0.5 inches (7.02 meters). Clint Christy held the previous record of 6.97 meters, set in 2007. O'Connor also set a PR in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.30.

Brady Sindelir set an indoor shot put personal best with a throw of 47-11.75, besting his previous indoor best by over two feet. His mark also now becomes the seventh best in program history.

Joe Stauffer (14-3.5) and
Annika Gunderson (11-4.5) both took third in the men's and women's pole vault, respectively.

Jaidyn McAlpine finished first in the women's one-mile run with a time of 5:54.44.

Cailyn Kuechle finished third in the women's 400-meter run with a PR time of 1:01.73. Kuechle also clocked a 10k time of 3:10.45, the 10th fastest time in program history.

After day one's heptathlon events, freshman
Jacob Balcome, making his Falcon debut, is in fifth of 13 athletes with a score of 2,582 points. Balcome along with teammate
Charlie Theis will wrap up the heptathlon tomorrow competing in the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1,000-meter run.
