RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's soccer team earned a 4-0 win over the College of St. Scholastica Wednesday afternoon at Ramer Soccer Stadium.
The win kept the two programs' traveling trophy in possession of the Falcons, the "Border Battle Chalice."
UWRF out shot the Saints 13-4, led by four different goal scorers and a career-high three assists from
Lauren Best.
Lauren Best's three assists is the most in a single-game since
Lexi Peterson assisted three times during a win over Northland in 2019.
A competitive first half led to a nearly scoreless first half, but the Falcons got on the board with an
Emery Bigler goal with 24 seconds left on the clock to earn UWRF a 1-0 halftime lead, which stood as the eventual game-winner.
UWRF scored three second-half goals from
Lexi Peterson,
Haley James, and
Ellie Ketcher's team-leading fifth of the season, all assisted by
Lauren Best.
In goal,
Kaylie Krueger made three saves to collect her second shutout of the season while improving her record to 2-0-1.
The Falcons (3-2-2 overall) continue nonconference action this Sunday at Macalester College.
