RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The UW-River Falls women's soccer team remained unbeaten in 2023 with an 11-0 nonconference win over the University of Minnesota Morris Thursday afternoon at Ramer Soccer Stadium.
The Falcons' 11 goals is the program's most since 2004, when UWRF scored a school record 14 goals against UW-Superior.
UWRF outshot UMM 39-4, with 22 shots on target.
Eight different Falcons found the back of the net, headlined by a hat trick from
Madyson Shew and two goals from
Lexi Peterson. In addition,
Maddie Stubson,
Brooke McDaniel, and
Mariah Martin each scored their first goals as a Falcon.
The home team scored four goals in the first half, with Peterson scoring the eventual game-winner just under seven minutes into the game. Peterson also added two assists for a six-point performance.
Leading by four goals at the break, the Falcons didn't step of the gas in the second half, taking just a few minutes to add a couple more goals as Shew completed her second career hat trick.
Along with Peterson's six-point effort,
Elizabeth DeVecchi had two assists, and
Aliviah McClinton and Martin each had a goal and an assist.
In net,
Grace Zellmer and
Kaylie Krueger combined for the shutout, each playing one half.
