PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's basketball team fell by a score of 73-56 at No. 19-ranked UW-Platteville Saturday evening.
The Falcons drop to 7-6 overall and 1-1 during WIAC competition.
UWRF was held to under 40 percent shooting from the field and just a 2-for-18 mark from beyond the arc, while the home team was strong from three-point range with 13 made triples and a 26-of-64 ledge from the field. UWP also held a 43-40 edge in rebounds.
In the first half, the Falcons shot 10-of-27 and opened the game with an 8-2 lead after back-to-back baskets from
Noah Hanson and
Jack Leifker. The Pioneers responded by taking the lead six minutes later, and held on to the lead for the rest of the night.
Trailing 31-25 heading into the second half, UWRF twice came within four points of the Pioneer lead early in the second half, but the home team gained a double-digit advantage three minutes into the second half and didn't look back.
Zac Johnson and
Jack Leifker shared the team lead in scoring with 11 points each.
UWRF returns to action next Wednesday, Jan. 10, hosting UW-Eau Claire.
