EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's soccer team fell by a score of 2-0 Wednesday evening during the WIAC road contest at UW-Eau Claire.
The Falcons, now 7-5-2 overall and 2-2 during WIAC competition, saw the score tied at 0-0 at the intermission before a second-half surge by the Blugolds led to the two-goal win by the home team.
UWRF held UWEC to zero shots on goal in the first half, while tallying a pair of chances with two
Madyson Shew shots on goal.
In the second half, the Blugolds outshot the Falcons 8-4 and scored on their first shot on goal of the night just three minutes in, which stood as the eventual game-winner. UWEC then added another for insurance late in regulation.
The Falcons totaled another two shots on goal in the second half along with four corner kick opportunities, but couldn't find a way to get any past the Blugold defense.
Grace Zellmer, the reigning WIAC Defensive Player of the Week, made five saves while conceding the loss.
UWRF remains on the road with another conference game on Saturday, traveling to UW-La Crosse.
