ST. PAUL, Minn. – The UW-River Falls volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep at Hamline University Wednesday evening.
The Falcons took down the Pipers with scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-16, totaling 40 kills with a .171 attack percentage, limiting the home team to a -.009 attacking rate while forcing 23 errors.
In the first set, UWRF hit .186 and caused 10 Hamline errors.
Ava Goldsberry and
Lauren Noth had two kills each late to close out the set leading to a 1-0 Falcon lead.
Hamline took an 11-7 lead in the middle frame before back-to-back kills from Noth capped off an 11-4 run, giving UWRF an 18-15 advantage. They didn't look back, closing out the set and carrying the momentum into the third.
The Falcons notched 15 kills compared to the Pipers' five in the third set, leading by double digits as early as 21-11 after an
Emily Brenner kill.
Noth led the Falcons with 12 kills, followed by 11 from Goldsberry.
Cora Sayotovich set up the offense with 29 assists while
Audrey Petersen had 16 digs.
UWRF, now 8-9 overall, hosts No. 18-ranked UW-Platteville this Friday at Page Arena.
