Falcons to host No. 19 Titans during regular season finale

UW-River Falls football is set to close out its 2024 regular season schedule this Saturday, Nov. 16, hosting No. 19-ranked UW-Oshkosh during Senior Day at Ramer Field.

SENIOR DAY

  • The 2024 Falcon Football senior class has led UWRF to four consecutive winning seasons since 2021 with an overall record of 29-12 (16-11 WIAC), including back-to-back Isthmus Bowl titles in 2021 and 2022. 
  • Since 2021, UWRF has the program's highest national rankings by coaches' polls and media outlets in program history, ranked as high as fourth in the country on multiple occasions.
  • The 2024 senior class includes an All-American, a Gagliardi Trophy semifinalist, two All-Region athletes, a Campbell Trophy semifinalist, and 10 All-Conference recipients.

AGAINST THE TITANS
  • Saturday's matchup marks the 67th all-time meeting between UW-River Falls and UW-Oshkosh, with the Falcons holding a 36-29-1 series advantage.
  • Last season, the Titans defeated the Falcons 38-31 in Oshkosh, Wis. An eventful back and forth game led to five turnovers in which UWO capitalized off, scoring 14 points off Falcon mistakes. UWRF totaled 535 yards of total offense compared to UWO's 400, including 395 passing yards with a season-high 61 pass attempts and 43 completions.
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Falcons snapped a two-game losing skid with a 45-17 win over UW-Stevens Point last Saturday, Nov. 9.
  • UWRF forced five turnovers and held a 422-253 advantage in total yardage.
  • Riley Warzynski finished with 178 yards through the air and two touchdowns. Michael Krueger contributed 77 rushing yards and one of three UWRF rushing touchdowns — his rushing total is a single-game career high. Ben Wesolowski was a steady target for UWRF in the passing game, catching six receptions for a career-high 93 yards on the day.
  • Defensively, Brayden Wolf led the team with nine total tackles, a new career high. Gage Timm recorded six tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one blocked punt. Michael Brown and Riley Ashburn recorded interceptions for UWRF, while Carson Steen and Evan Oehlke both recorded sacks.
FALCON NOTES
  • UWRF leads the WIAC and ranks 8th in Division III with 235 first downs, averaging 26.1 per game. UWRF's 41.0 points per game and 441.8 yards of total offense per game also lead the league.
  • UWRF's 17 interceptions leads the WIAC and is 5th-most in DIII. Against The Falcons had two last Saturday against UW-Stevens Point, including one from Michael Brown, his WIAC-leading fourth of the season. Brown has 17 in his career (including a program-record 8 in 2022) and tied Steve Lyons (1976-79) for the second-most all-time at UWRF. Roy Gruel (1986-89) holds the record with 19.
  • Junior linebacker Gage Timm is the WIAC leader with 14 tackles for loss. He ranks 4th in the league with 81 total tackles.
  • Quarterback Cade Fitzgerald has rushing touchdowns in all but two games this season, and at least one in four straight games. He leads the WIAC in scoring with 12 rushing TDs.
  • Junior kicker Justin Scheberl was 6-for-6 on PATs against UWSP last Saturday to break the UWRF career record for extra points made with 143. He passed Andy Feil's total of 138 (1986-89).
