MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) released its Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 5-11, with
Johnny Figgins representing UW-River Falls as the Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week.
Figgins, a freshman kicker from Palmer, Alaska, was perfect in helping lead UW-River Falls to a 34-31 win over UW-Oshkosh, converting both of his field-goal attempts and all four PATs in a 10-point special teams performance. His 32-yard field goal tied the game in the third quarter, and he delivered the game-winning 35-yard field goal in overtime. Figgins also recorded three touchbacks on six kickoffs.
Receiving his first career WIAC weekly honor, Figgins is UWRF's third WIAC Athlete of the Week award winner this season, following Cade Fitzgerald (Sept. 7-13) and Taylor Sussner (Sept. 14-20).
The No. 6-ranked Falcons (4-1, 1-1 WIAC) return to action this Saturday, Oct. 17 at No. 3-ranked UW-Platteville.
