SAINT PETER, Minn. — The No. 2-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team fell 7-2 at No. 5-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College Tuesday evening.
The season series against the Gusties is now tied at 1-1, as UWRF prevailed 5-3 during the first of three scheduled regular season matchups on Nov. 12 at Hunt Arena. The Falcons, now 7-2-2 overall, dropped their second consecutive game, marking the program's first two losses in a row since 2019.
Trailing 3-0 five minutes into the second period, the Falcons scored twice to trim the Gustavus lead to 3-2 with under seven minutes to play in the middle frame. However, just when it looked like the Falcons had life for a comeback, the home team rattled off three more goals in the second and added another in the third to seal the win.
Madison Kadrlik scored on the power play, her fourth goal of the season, and
Katherine Bell scored her team-leading 11th goal.
UWRF held a 35-24 lead in shots on goal and won nearly 60 percent of the faceoffs, including 14 wins from Bell.
Jordan O'Kane made the start in net and tallied 15 saves before being relieved by
Olivia Hansen, who collected a pair.
The Falcons return to action on Jan. 3-4, 2025 at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.
