EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The No. 10-ranked UW-River Falls men's hockey team fell by a score of 3-0 Saturday night at UW-Eau Claire.
After a scoreless first period, the Blugolds scored a trio of even strength goals, one in the second and two more in the third, including an empty net goal late in regulation.
UWEC held a 34-25 lead in shots on goal, while both teams were unsuccessful on a combined seven power play chances.
Dylan Smith and
Tyler Lee led the Falcons with four shots on goal each, and the Falcons won 40 of 66 faceoffs, including 13 by
Ethan Lindahl.
Brennan Boynton made 31 saves during the loss as his record fell to 6-3 on the season.
The Falcons, now 6-3 overall and 2-2 during WIAC competition, have a home & home series against UW-Stout next weekend.
