No. 1 Falcons drop game two at No. 4 Adrian, 3-1

ADRIAN, Mich. — The No. 1-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team fell by a score of 3-1 Sunday afternoon at No. 4 Adrian College.

The loss snaps the Falcons' NCAA Division III record overall unbeaten streak of 40 games, which spanned from March 11, 2023 to today, Dec. 8, 2024.

UWRF opened the scoring late in the first period but the Bulldogs scored three unanswered goals to hand the Falcons' their first loss of the season and to split the non-conference weekend series. UWRF won yesterday by a score of 4-2.

Sophomore defender Cahlilah Lindquist scored the lone Falcon goal at 15:15 of the first period as her shot from the point found its way through traffic and past Adrian goaltender Annie Gilbert. The goal was Lindquist's second of the season and was assisted by Ellie Brice

Gilbert and the Adrian defense shut out the Falcons for the rest of regulation however, tying the game eight minutes into the third period during the only power play chance of the game for both teams. Just a few minutes later, the Bulldogs earned their first lead of the weekend as a Riley Johnson shot put the home team up 2-1.

UWRF pulled its goaltender Jordan O'Kane late in regulation but the Bulldogs scored an empty net goal to seal the win. O'Kane made 18 saves while conceding her first loss of the season.

The Falcons, now 7-1-2 overall, face nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College on Tuesday, Dec. 10 in Saint Peter, Minn.
