RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team fell 67-55 against No. 16-ranked UW-Oshkosh Saturday afternoon at Page Arena.
UWRF, now 14-9 overall and 5-7 during WIAC play, led by 14 at halftime before the Titans stormed back with a strong second half to earn the win.
While the Titans earned an 8-2 lead five minutes into regulation, UWRF shot over 50 percent in the first half and battled back to lead 17-12 heading into the second quarter. In the second frame, the Falcons held UWO to a 3-of-17 shooting clip from the field, outscoring the visitors 17-8 to take a 34-20 lead at the half.
UWO outscored UWRF 47-21 in the second half, and tied the game at 43-43 late in the third quarter. UWRF led 46-43 heading into the final period and led by as many as seven minutes in after a pair of
Macy Nilsen free throws, but UWO answered with a 13-0 run to garner its first lead since early on and didn't look back, leading for the rest of regulation.
Nilsen led the Falcons with 21 points, followed by 11 from
Olivia Hoerl.
Kameri Meredith led UWRF on the glass with six rebounds.
The Falcons travel to UW-Stout next Wednesday.
