We're about at the halfway point of the regular season for Spring 2024, and the Falcons are poised to make several playoff runs and tournament appearances with a 22-8 record across all 6 rosters.
Â
Leading the way are the undefeated Smash Ultimate and Rocket League teams. Smash Ultimate currently sits at the top of their divisional standings in the bothe NECC and NACE with quality wins in the past 2 weeks over former divisional champs and playoff opponents St. Cloud State and Carroll University. Meanwhile, UWRF RL is an early favorite in Division 3 of WCRL with a record of 3-0 and total map score of 9-2. Hudson native and team focal point Gavin "Lemon" Schnepper earned WCRL Player of the Week honors for his record-setting Week 2 performance with a 2.27 MVP Rating. The MVP Rating is a figure based on multiple stats reflecting how much each player impacted the game. No WCRL player had ever exceeded a 2.0 MVPR prior to Schnepper's performance.
In Valorant, the Falcons continued their shaky start to the Wisconsin Valorant (WVAL) season in a close overtime home game loss to UW-Stout followed up by another defeat at the hands of the Badgers. However, they maintain an undefeated 3-0 record in NACE Varsity Plus play. The team will look to turn things around in WVAL on Thursday with their game against Concordia University, Wisconsin.
Â
UWRF Overwatch 2 and Rainbow 6 both took their first losses of the season after surging out to a hot start. In MidwestR6, the Falcons put up a valiant effort against Ohio University resulting in a 3-way tie for second. They'll have their work cut out for them with matches against division-leading Trine University out of Indiana and a special home game against fellow 2nd place team UW-Madison on March 9th.
Â
Finally, the League of Legends squad took down Dunwoody at their facility in Minneapolis, MN on Wednesday in their first in-person match of the season. Junior bottom laner Ridley "Fridgely" Bemis led all Falcons in total gold and a combined score line of 13/3/19 in his stellar 2 Varus games.
