EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's hockey team closed out its WIAC road series weekend at No. 14-ranked UW-Eau Claire with a 2-2 draw.
The Falcons then won the shootout to earn two points in the conference standings, while UWEC received one point.
UWRF and UWEC combined for all four goals in the second period. The home team took the lead four minutes into the frame before
Owen Belisle and
Gibb Coady goals gave the Falcons a 2-1 lead.Â
UWEC scored late in the second period before both teams went scoreless in the third to force overtime, and the shootout.Â
Arsenii Smekhnov and
Sam Anzai scored shootout goals to earn the extra point.
Dysen Skinner made 30 saves as his record on the season moves to 5-3-1 overall.
The Falcons, now 12-9-2 overall and 4-7-2 during WIAC competition, closes out the regular season at Northland College Feb. 8-10.
