ASHLAND, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's hockey team opened its final WIAC regular season road series with a 2-0 shutout Thursday evening at Northland College.
The Falcons, now 13-9-2 overall and 5-7-2 during WIAC competition, were led by goals from
Max Collette and
Noah Roofe while
Dysen Skinner made 17 saves in net.
Just over nine minutes into regulation, Collette scored the eventual game-winner off a rebound, giving UWRF a 1-0 lead heading into the second period. Roofe scored near the midway point of the game to give UWRF a two-goal cushion.
Both teams went 0-for-3 on the power play while UWRF led in shots on goal, 43-17.
Skinner's record on the season improves to 6-3-1 with his second shutout.Â
UWRF closes out the regular season and goes for the series sweep over the Lumberjacks on Saturday night in Ashland, Wis.
