MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The UW-River Falls track & field team opened day one of the NCAA Outdoor Championship competition on Thursday, May 23, represented by
Jacob Balcome,
Annika Gunderson, and
Lexi LeFever.
Annika Gunderson finished tied for 12th of 22 athletes in the women's pole vault, reaching 3.76 meters (12 feet, 4 inches).
Jacob Balcome and
Lexi LeFever each wrapped up the first of two days of their respective combined event competitions.
LeFever is in fifth place among 22 athletes, having totaled 3,033 points after completing the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, and 200-meter dash, ahead of tomorrow's long jump, javelin throw, and 800-meter run. LeFever set personal records in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.67 and in the high jump at 1.60 meters.
Through day one of the decathlon, Balcome is in 13th place among 22 athletes with 3,433 points. His best finish came during the first event of the day, finishing 10th with a PR in the 100-meter dash, clocking a time of 11.24. Tomorrow, the event concludes with the 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and 1,500-meter run.
The men's decathlon resumes at 12 p.m. (ET) tomorrow, followed by the women's heptathlon at 1:30 p.m. (ET).
