RIVER FALLS, Wis. - As part of the University of Wisconsin men's basketball exhibition game against UW-River Falls this October,
Garding Against Cancer is hosting an event on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at the Falcon's Nest inside UWRF's University Center.
Founded by Greg Gard, the head men's basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin, and his wife Michelle, Garding Against Cancer is an initiative to raise funds and awareness for cancer research and care at UW Health | Carbone Cancer Center and throughout the state of Wisconsin. Coupled with the Oct. 1 event, the Badgers are slated to host UW-River Falls in an exhibition game at the Kohl Center in Madison on Oct. 30.
The Gards will bring their Garding Against Cancer initiative to UWRF on Oct. 1 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the University Center (501 Wild Rose Avenue, River Falls, WI 54022). The evening will include heavy hors d' oeuvres, a program featuring Coach Gard, a silent auction, raffle, live entertainment, and an opportunity to support the Garding Against Cancer initiative. All proceeds from this event will stay in the area and will support local cancer support organizations such as Rhino's Foundation, the Free Clinic of Pierce & St. Croix Counties, and UWRF's Tissue and Cellular Innovation Center.
Registration is open until Sept. 26.
