CLAREMONT, Calif. – The UW-River Falls volleyball team wrapped up its California trip competing in the Pacific Coast Classic on Saturday, falling to No. 3-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps before earning its first win of the season, a 3-2 victory over Pomona-Pitzer.
The Falcons head home with a 1-3 record at the Pacific Coast Classic, facing stiff competition that featured a pair of nationally ranked opponents.

CMS took care of the Falcons in three sets to open the day, winning 25-10, 25-20, and 25-16.
UWRF was solid in the middle frame, totaling 15 kills with a .262 hitting percentage. CMS limited the Falcons to an overall rate of .109 though while hitting .360 themselves, totaling 42 kills compared to UWRF's 29.
Ada Schlenker led UWRF with a career-high 10 kills.
UW-River Falls 3, Pomona-Pitzer 2
In the second match of the day and final of the weekend, the Falcons found themselves down 1-0 after the first set and finished winning sets two, three, and five to secure a 3-2 win over the Sagehens.
The Falcons totaled a weekend-best 62 kills with a .207 attacking percentage, led by
Lauren Noth's 17 kills.
Defensively,
Audrey Petersen led the way with 22 digs while the Falcons compiled a weekend-high 11 total blocks, including a career-high six from
Emily Brenner.
UWRF won sets two and three by scores of 28-26 and 25-22 to take a 2-1 lead before Pomona-Pitzer forced a fifth set. In the fifth, UWRF held the home team to six kills while totaling 11 with a hitting percentage of .308 to win 15-9 to seal the set win and match victory. The Falcons closed out the set and match with three-straight kills from Brenner, Noth, and
Reese Bauman.
