SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's soccer team wrapped up its weekend on the north shore with a 2-1 loss at UW-Superior Sunday afternoon.
The Falcons, now 1-1 overall, return to River Falls to host Augsburg University on Wednesday during their home opener.
UWRF opened the scoring late in the first half and led 1-0 for the majority of the second half before UWS scored twice late to earn the win.
With just four seconds left on the clock in the first half, sophomore
Abby Drontle scored her first of the season with help from
Greta Van Guilder to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
While the Falcons led 7-4 in shots the first half, the Yellowjackets led 10-5 in the second half. The home team broke the shutout at the 76th minute, then five minutes later they scored the game-winner.
Grace Zellmer made six saves in net despite conceding the loss.
