STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-River Falls volleyball team opened its first of three matches at the UW-Stevens Point Invite Friday evening, defeating St. Norbert College in five sets.
The Falcons, now 6-7 overall and winners of three out their last four matches, compiled a .106 hitting percentage with 53 kills to take down SNC (20-25, 25-19, 25-19, 21-25, 15-13).
After dropping the first set, UWRF responded with a pair of 25-19 set wins in both the second and third frames to take a 2-1 lead. The second set featured the Falcons' most efficient attacking rate at 22.9 percentage, totaling 12 kills on four errors.
St. Norbert forced a fifth set after a competitive fourth set that carried over to the final stanza. After trailing early, the Falcons went on a 7-0 run to take an 11-6 lead and eventually close out the set and match on top.
Three Falcons had double-digit kill totals, led by 11 from
Lauren Noth and 10 each from
Reese Bauman and
Ava Goldsberry. Noth also led the Falcons with 23 digs while
Olivia Gustafsson had 25 assists.
Tomorrow, the Falcons are set to face Carthage and Lakeland.
