Volleyball splits day two at UWSP Invite

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-River Falls volleyball team wrapped up its competition at the UW-Stevens Point Invite on Saturday falling to Carthage College before sweeping Lakeland University.

The Falcons, now 7-8 overall, heads back into WIAC play next Wednesday at UW-Eau Claire.

Through three matches on the weekend, Amanda Baumann had 22 kills with a 0.365 hitting percentage, and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
 
Carthage 3, UW-River Falls 1
During the Falcons' second match of the weekend and first of the day, Carthage took down the Falcons in four sets (28-26, 19-25, 25-21, 25-23).

Down 1-0, UWRF earned its sole set win in the second, hitting nearly 30 percentage while forcing eight Carthage errors to win 25-19. The Firebirds answered back to take a 2-1 lead and snuck by the Falcons in the fourth, 23-21. The final set featured back-and-forth competition with seven lead changes

Emily Brenner led the Falcons with 14 kills, followed by a career-high 12 from Grace McDole.
 
UW-River Falls 3, Lakeland 0
The Falcons swept Lakeland with a 25 percent hitting percentage, UWRF's second-highest percentage this season, winning by scores of 25-16, 27-25, and 25-12.

In the first set, the Falcons and Muskies were close until a 5-0 Falcon run that featured back-to-back aces from Emily Brenner, and UWRF cruised to a 1-0 lead. After a competitive set two, the Falcons had a dominant third set hitting .367 and holding the Muskies to a rate of -0.148.

Ava Goldsberry led the way with 11 kills, while Audrey Peterson had a team-high 17 digs.
