STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The No. 2-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team picked up a conference road win Saturday afternoon, winning 5-1 at UW-Stevens Point.
With their fourth win in a row, the Falcons' record improves to 11-2-2 overall and 3-0-1 during WIAC competition.
The Falcons persistent attack led to a season-high 71 shots on goal, led by eight each from
Bailey Olson and
Kennedi Bielenberg-Howarth.
Ellie Brice led UWRF with two goals while
Kylie Jones and
Megan Goodreau both had three assists.
Katherine Bell got the Falcons on the board early on, scoring her sixth goal in six-straight games and NCAA Division III-leading 16
th of the season, and UWRF led 1-0 through one period.
UWRF used three goals in the third period and another in the third to put the game out of the Pointers' reach. After a
MaKenna Aure goal extended the Falcons' lead to 2-0 under two minutes into the middle frame,
Ellie Brice scored twice within a span of 33 seconds at the five-minute mark. UWSP broke the shutout under a minute later.
Madison Lavergne scored in the third period to give UWRF a four-goal advantage while the Falcons held the Pointers to just two shots on goal in the final 20 minutes.
Goaltender
Catt Donna made her second start of the season in net and earned her second win, making 10 saves.
The Falcons continue conference action next weekend with a home & home weekend series against UW-Superior.
