Men's Hockey opens road stretch falling at St. Olaf, 3-2

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The UW-River Falls men's hockey team opened its six-game road stretch with a 3-2 loss at St. Olaf College Friday evening.

The Falcons, now 9-7 overall, scored once on the power play and were led by a two-point game from Reid Lune

In the first period, the home team struck first but the Falcons tied the game four minutes later on the power play as Cole Teleki one-timed his fifth goal of the season with assists to Alex Atwill and Lune. The Oles scored on the rush late in the frame to lead 2-1 after 20 minutes.

After a scoreless middle frame, the Oles extended their lead to two goals as Connor Kalthoff scored unassisted four minutes into the third period. Just a few minutes later, Lune scored after an Ole turnover, his fifth of the season to trim the St. Olaf lead to 3-2 with 13 minutes left to play.

UWRF outshot the Oles 7-4 in the third period but didn't find a way to tie the game. St. Olaf finished with a 20-18 edge in shots on target and 29-27 in faceoffs.

Brennan Boynton made 17 saves in net as his record dropped to 9-7.

The Falcons round out the weekend tomorrow night at Saint Mary's University. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at SMU Ice Arena in Winona, Minn.
