SUPERIOR, Wis. — The No. 2-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey defeated UW-Superior 5-2 Saturday afternoon to earn the weekend sweep over the Yellowjackets.
UWRF improves to 13-2-2 overall and 5-0-1 during WIAC play with its sixth win in a row. The Falcons used goals in each period along with a power play tally to ensure the victory.
Katherine Bell led the Falcons with her NCAA Division III leading 17th and 18th goals of the season while
Cahlilah Lindquist had a career-high three assists.

MaKenna Aure gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead after one period and
Bailey Olson's fifth goal of the weekend extended UWRF's lead to 3-0 early in the second before UWS responded with back-to-back goals to trim the Falcon lead to 3-2 at the midway point of regulation. Late in in the second, Bell scored her second of the game to push UWRF's lead back to two.
The Falcons shut out the Yellowjackets in the third period while
Megan Goodreau scored on the power play just under six minutes in. UWRF outshot UWS 14-5 in the third period and finished with a 50-31 total advantage.
Olivia Hansen made her third start of the season in goal and collected a season-high 29 saves to improve her record to 3-0.
UWRF returns to Hunt Arena for a pair of home games Jan. 24-25 against Northland College.
