RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The No. UW-River Falls women's hockey team defeated Northland College 9-0 Friday evening at Hunt Arena.
The Falcons used goals in each period, including a six-goal onslaught in the third period leading to the win. Eight different Falcons found the back of the net, led by two goals by
Ellie Brice.
Kylie Jones and
Bailey Olson both had two assists.
UWRF limited the Lumberjills to just two shots on target while recording a season-high 83 shots, led by 10 from
Megan Goodreau. The Falcons' 83 shots on goal is the program's most since tallying 90 against Northland in 2022.
Both teams had two power play chances, with UWRF turning aside both of Northland's power plays while going 1-for-2 as Goodreau scored the lone power play goal.
Madison Kadrlik opened the scoring 11 minutes into regulation, which stood as the eventual game-winner. Brice then scored her first of two goals soon after, giving UWRF a 2-0 lead through two minutes.
After just one goal by
Brooke Lemke in the second period, the Falcons' offense broke open in the third period with six goals from
Madison Lavergne,
Kennedi Bielenberg-Howarth, Goodreau, Brice, Olson, and
Courtney Jacobs.
Catt Donna made the start in net and earned her first career shutout.
The Falcons go for the series sweep tomorrow afternoon against the Lumberjills. In celebration of National Girls & Women in Sports Day, all youth ages 17 & under will receive FREE admission. In addition, the Falcons will be available postgame for team poster signings.
