RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The UW-River Falls Women's Basketball team is set to face off with No. 4 UW-Oshkosh at Page Arena on Saturday, January 25. The game will also be a celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, with both women's basketball and women's hockey hosting home games at the Falcon Center on Saturday.
The Falcons enter the game with a 10-7 record overall and a 2-4 clip in WIAC play. UWRF most recently lost to UW-La Crosse at Page Arena on Jan. 22, as a late fourth-quarter push came up just short for the Falcons.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day is an annual celebration of the achievements of girls and women in sports. NGWSD is put together by the Women's Sports Foundation and is in its 39th year, inspiring girls and women to play and participate in sports of all levels and celebrating their achievements. FALCON NOTES
- In UWRF's most recent game against UW-La Crosse, the Falcons trailed by as much as 15 points in the third quarter, but trimmed that deficit down to two possessions late in the game. UW-La Crosse's efficient free-throw shooting helped put the game away for the Eagles, as the Falcons fell 64-59.
- Three Falcons scored in double-figures, while Mari Ryberg recorded a career-high three steals.
- Olivia Hoerl (13.9 ppg) and Zoey Buchan (13.0 ppg) rank seventh and eighth in the WIAC in points per game.
- Hoerl is also the team's top rebounder with 6.1 boards per game, which ranks seventh in the conference. Olivia Miron is just behind with 5.9 rebounds per game, ranking eighth in the WIAC.
- The Falcons are averaging 7.2 three-pointers made per game, which ranks second in the WIAC.
