LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls volleyball team fell in five sets to UW-La Crosse on Tuesday evening in a WIAC road matchup.
The Falcons started strong, taking the first two sets (25-18, 25-23) behind efficient attacking numbers, but momentum shifted in the third set as the Eagles forced eight Falcon errors and UWL won the set 25-20. UWRF struggled to maintain consistency in the final three sets, hitting below .110 while the home team was on fire in the final two frames to seal the win.
Blessing Adebisi led the Falcons with 16 kills - just one shy of her career-high, hitting an impressive .382. Lauren Noth followed with 11 kills while Emily Brenner and Reese Bauman added 10 each. Setter Cora Sayotovich recorded 29 assists and 9 digs and Audrey Petersen led all players with 29 digs.
The Falcons posted their best hitting percentage in the first set at .257 and held La Crosse to a negative percentage, controlling play from start to finish. The second set was more competitive, featuring multiple lead changes, but a block by Adebisi & Brenner closed out the set to give UWRF the 2-0 advantage.
UWRF returns to action this weekend, traveling to Memphis, Tenn., to compete at the Rhodes College Invite.
