MENOMONIE, Wis. — The UW–River Falls women's soccer team bring home a 1-0 WIAC road victory Wednesday evening over UW–Stout at Nelson Field.
After a scoreless first half, Emery Bigler delivered the winning goal from Lauren Best's sixth assist of the year in the 80th minute, securing the Falcons' 10th win of the season and improving their conference record to 2-2-1. Lexi Atkinson matched Bigler's three shots, with Atkinson's all being on goal, and six other Falcons contributing shots. UWRF finished with 13 total shots, including eight on goal, while Stout posted 14 shots.
Courtney Bain recorded another shutout for the Falcons, making four saves in 90 minutes of action. The Falcons defense, led by Valerie Leonard, Lauren Gregory, and Madelyn Johnson, held Stout scoreless despite a second-half push from the Blue Devils, who managed 11 shots after the break.
With the win, UW–River Falls improves to 10-4-2 overall and 2-2-1 in WIAC play, while UW–Stout falls to 7-7-3 (1-2-2 WIAC).
The Falcons continue conference play Saturday, Oct. 25, hosting UW–Eau Claire at Ramer Soccer Stadium.
