Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Behind Clarey's 19, Falcons Roll to Road Victory

KENOSHA, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team picked up its fifth win of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Carthage 76-65 at Tarble Arena behind steady scoring and efficient three-point shooting.

The Falcons opened strong with a 23-point first quarter, holding on to the lead through the contest, shooting an even 50 percent from the field and 50 percent from three (9-of-18). UWRF also converted at the line, going 15-of-18 (83.3%) to help secure the road victory against the Firebirds.

Carthage (4-3) kept the game tight through the first half, but the Falcons' 22-point third quarter, powered by an onslaught of threes, created the separation needed for the Falcons to walk off victorious.

Taylor Clarey led the Falcons with season-high 19 points while Savannah Leopold provided a major spark off the bench with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Defensively, the Falcons forced 12 Firebird turnovers and turned them into 13 points while also posting 14 second-chance points behind 9 offensive boards.

FALCON LEADERS The Falcons continue nonconference play against the Edgewood Eagles on Dec. 10th, tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
