MADISON, Wis. – UW-River Falls picked up its sixth win of the season Wednesday night, defeating Edgewood 70-41 on the road at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. The Falcons controlled all four quarters with 42-point performance off the bench.
UWRF opened solid with a 17-9 first quarter, then added 21 more points in the second to take a 38-24 lead into halftime. The Falcons' set the tone early defensively and didn't look back. They forced 20 turnovers throughout the night, held Edgewood to just 27.6 percent shooting from the field and 12.5 percent from beyond the arc.
On the other end of the court, the Falcons shot 36.8 percent overall, hitting eight threes and converting 80 percent at the free-throw line. UWRF's bench had a major impact the entire game with six players going for 5+. The Falcons won the rebounding battle 46-41 led by
Olivia Boily and turned those 20 turnovers into 25 points the other way.
Savannah Leopold led with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including a pair of threes.
Taylor Clarey and
Zoey Buchan each added nine points, while
Jocelyn Plonski posted eight points and five rebounds.
Olivia Boily continues to lead the Falcons off the glass, finishing with six rebounds and six points, and
Annamarie Aue added seven points, three rebounds, and three blocks.
UW-River Falls closed the night with a 20-9 fourth quarter, pushing the lead to 29 en route to the 70-41 final. The victory lifts the Falcons to 6-3 on the season with another non-conference game against the Bethel Royals this Saturday across the St. Croix.
