PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The UW-River Falls Men's Basketball team lost its final game of the 2024-25 season, falling on the road at UW-Platteville 85-44.
The loss concluded the season for UWRF, finishing the year 9-16 overall and 3-11 in WIAC play.
Out of the gates, the Falcons and Pioneers battled out a 7-7 start to the game, as a three-pointer by Zac Johnson knotted the game with 16:44 to go in the half. The game then moved to 9-9, before UW-Platteville embarked on a game-shifting 25-3 run that put the Pioneers up 36-12 with 6:26 remaining in the first. The momentum continued for UW-Platteville, who extended its run to 34-4 and led 44-13 with 3:37 left in the half. The Falcons went on a 6-0 run late in the half, but trailed 49-19 at the halftime intermission.
The Falcons were out scored 36-25 in the second half, shooting 10-29 (34.5%) from the field. Back-to-back jumpers by Zac Johnson were part of a 6-0 run for the Falcons early in the second half, but 28 points was the smallest UWRF was able to dig into the deficit. UW-Platteville shot 14-30 (46.7%) in the second half and went on to win 85-44.
Zac Johnson led all players with 18 points off 7-11 shooting from the field and he added four rebounds and two blocks — Johnson concludes the season with 935 career points. Jack Leifker scored nine points off 3-7 shooting.
