GLOUCESTER, Mass. – The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) has announced the finalists for the 2024-25 Division III Laura Hurd Player of the Year, including
Bailey Olson from UW-River Falls.
The 2024-25 WIAC Player of the Year and an All-WIAC First Team honoree,
Bailey Olson is the nation's leading scorer with 54 points off 25 goals and 29 assists in 28 games played.
Olson, a senior co-captain from Willmar, Minn., has led the Falcons to a 23-3-2 overall record, winning the WIAC regular season and the O'Brien Cup, earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. UWRF earned a first-round bye into the national tournament and will host Elmira College on Saturday, March 22 at Hunt Arena in the quarterfinals.
All 13 finalists for this year's national award are first-time nominees. Sponsored by the AHCA, the Hurd Award honors the memory of former Elmira College standout Laura Hurd. A 2005 graduate of Elmira, and a four-time All-American, Hurd died in an automobile accident shortly after graduation. She was the recipient of the AHCA Player of the Year Award in 2005. The recipient of this year's Hurd Award will be announced on Thursday, March 27, at the NCAA Championship banquet in River Falls, Wis.
UWRF has three Laura Hurd Player of the Year award winners in program history,
Maddie McCollins (2024),
Callie Hoff (2022) and
Dani Sibley (2017).
