RIVER FALLS, Wis – The UW-River Falls women's soccer team maintained their perfect start to the 2025 season, securing a 4-1 victory over St. Norbert College on Sunday afternoon at Ramer Soccer Stadium. The Falcons showcased their offensive prowess, tallying 24 shots, including 10 on goal, while their defense held firm against the Green Knights.
The Falcons opened the scoring in the 24
th minute when
Emery Bigler netted her second goal of the season, assisted by
Lauren Best, to give UWRF a 1-0 lead. St. Norbert responded in the 29
th minute with a goal from Meredith Posanski, assisted by Michelle Piro, to level the score at 1-1. However, UWRF regained the lead just before halftime when
Lexi Atkinson scored in the 42
nd minute, assisted by
Abby Drontle, making it 2-1.
The Falcons took control early in the second period with two quick goals. Lilly Keitner struck in the 46
th minute, assisted by
Madelyn Johnson, to extend the lead to 3-1. Moments later, in the 47
th minute,
Ellie Ketcher seal the game with her second goal of the season, capitalizing on a spectacular play where
Lauren Gregory delivered a perfect pass from midfield to find Ketcher in the goalkeeper's box. UWRF's defense, led by goalkeepers
Courtney Bain and
Kiera Nelson, limited St. Norbert to seven shots on goal, with each goalkeeper making three saves to secure the victory.
Ellie Ketcher led the offensive attack with five shots, three on goal, and a crucial score in the 46
th minute.
Lauren Best provided an assist and took three shots, one on goal, consistently challenging the Green Knight's defense.
Emery Bigler scored her second goal of the season, adding two shots, one on goal, in 56 minutes.
Lexi Atkinson contributed a goal and three shots, two on goal, making a significant impact off the bench.
Lilly Leitner scored her first goal of the season, helping spark the second-half surge.
The Falcons will look to keep their momentum going as they travel to face St. Kate's on Sept. 6 at 1 pm in St. Paul, Minn.
