WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's volleyball team dropped a three-set match at No. 4-ranked UW-Whitewater at Kris Russell Arena Friday evening.
The Falcons, now 7-9 overall and 0-2 in the WIAC, were swept by the Warhawks by scores of 25-12, 25-18, and 25-15.
Despite the final result, the Falcons showed moments of competitive fire, especially in the second set, which featured nine tied scores and four lead changes. UWRF hit .214 but UWW also had its strongest offensive output with a .435 attacking rate.
Ava Goldsberry led the Falcons with six kills and while Reese Bauman totaled five with a .364 attacking percentage. Ellie Mascotti led the team with 10 assists while Audrey Petersen led the defense with nine digs.
The Falcons struggled to find consistency at the net, finishing with a .093 hitting percentage compared to Whitewater's .338. The Warhawks were paced by Gaby DiMotto's 13 kills and a team performance that included 12 service aces and eight blocks.
UWRF will look to regroup quickly as they continue play at the UW-Whitewater Invite on Saturday, facing Rose-Hulman and Illinois College.
