UW-River Falls Sweeps Final Day Of The Falcon Invite

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls volleyball team sweeps final day of the Falcon Invite with wins over Nebraska Wesleyan and Carleton. 

UWRF wrapped up the Falcon Invite with a 3-1 record on the weekend, moving their overall ledger to 3-4.

The Falcons earned a hard-fought five-set win over the Prairie Wolves during their third match of the weekend and first of the day (25-19, 20-25, 19-25, 25-18, 15-9). 

After UWRF won the opening set 25-19, NWU answered by winning the next two to grab a 2-1 lead. UWRF then battled back with a 25-18 win in the fourth before sealing the match with a 15-9 victory in the deciding set.

Kelsey Klesner led the Falcons with a season-best 19 kills along 16 digs, while Lauren Noth added 15 kills, 11 digs, and four service aces. Reese Bauman hit an impressive .615 with eight kills, and Blessing Adebisi chipped in nine kills at a .333 clip.

Setter Cora Sayotovich paced the offense with 43 assists and added 17 digs, while libero Audrey Petersen led the defense with 20 digs. Overall, the Falcons tallied a season-high 58 kills to control the match down the stretch.

UW-River Falls 3, Carleton 1
The Falcons capped the Falcon invite with a thrilling 3-1 victory over Carleton Saturday evening at Don Page Arena (25-19, 23-25, 26-24, 25-20).

UWRF surged to a strong start, claiming the first set 25-19. Carleton responded in the second set, edging out a 25-23 win. The Falcons showed resilience in a tightly contested third set, rallying together to come out with a 26-24 win. UWRF then sealed the match with a hard fought 25-20 win in the fourth set, finishing the weekend tournament on a high note.

Blessing Adebisi lead with 14 kills and seven blocks, Kelsey Klesner added 13 kills and 15 digs, and Reese Bauman contributed 12 kills at .526 hitting percentage. Sayotovich continued to orchestrate the offense with 43 assists and 15 digs alongside Klesner while Audrey Petersen anchored the defense with 14 digs. 

Reese Bauman and Cora Sayotovich were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Falcons travel to Dubuque, Iowa to compete at the Loras College Invite next weekend.
