The UW-River Falls men's basketball team fell on the road Wednesday night, dropping an 86-64 decision to UW-Stevens Point at Quandt Fieldhouse.
River Falls headed into halftime with a slim lead, taking a 39-37 lead into the break after shooting over 50 percent from the field and 60 percent from deep in the opening 20 minutes. The Falcons knocked down six three-pointers in the first half and led by as many as five before the Pointers trimmed the margin late.
The momentum shifted following the break, as Stevens Point went for 49 second-half points. The Pointers shot 56.7 percent from the floor in the second half and connected on eight three-pointers, pulling away midway through the period and building the lead to as many as 22.
Reggie Postel paced the Falcon offense with a career-high 21 points, shooting 8-of-12 from the field and knocking down three triples while adding a team-high six assists. Gavin Ralph added 16 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including four three-pointers, while Jack Leifker chipped in 11 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Stevens Point placed four players in double figures, led by Logan Baumgartner's 20 points. The Pointers held a 29-26 rebounding edge and capitalized on 15 River Falls turnovers, converting them into 20 transition points.
The Falcons will look to bounce back for Alumni Day as they continue WIAC play against UW-Platteville on Saturday, Jan. 24, tip-off set for 5 p.m. in Don Page Arena.
