MADISON, Wis. – UW-River Falls football sophomore punter
Jeffrey Freund (Juneau, Wis./Beaver Dam) has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Special Teams Athlete of the Week following his performance in the Falcons' 35-30 comeback victory over UW-Stout Polytechnic.
Freund played a key role in the Falcons' victory, averaging 44.8 yards per punt on four attempts while consistently helping UWRF gain an advantage in field position. Three of his four punts landed inside the Blue Devils' 20-yard line, including two that pinned UW-Stout inside its own 10-yard line.
The sophomore recorded punts of 53 and 51 yards, helping the Falcons flip field position throughout the contest.
The Falcons continue WIAC play this weekend as they travel to UW-La Crosse on Saturday. Kick-off is slated for 1 p.m.
