The UW-River Falls men's and women's track & field teams return to competition this Saturday, Feb. 14, traveling north to compete in the 5th Annual Maday Classic, hosted by UW-Superior.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. with opening ceremonies, field and jump events getting underway at 11:40 a.m. and running events set to kick off at 12:30 p.m. The Maday Classic is an open meet with a full slate of field and track events.
River Falls enters the weekend following an impressive showing at the UWRF Winter Classic where the women captured the team title (175 points), and the men took second (153.5) in a strong mid-season home performance.

Jack Richter headlines the distance squad following his second-place finish in the 3,000 meters last weekend, clocking 8:45.15, a mark that moved him into the program's top-10 list. Following Richter in the 3,000 meter,
Wyatt Johnson took third (8:50.31), also breaking into the all-time top-10 list.Â
In the jumps and multi-events,Â
Jacob Balcome continues to not miss a beat. Balcome claimed first place in the long jump at the Winter Classic with a mark of 6.49 meters while also tying for third in the pole vault at 4.45 meters. Joining him in the vault will beÂ
Cole Darling, who tied for third last weekend at 4.45 meters.Â
In the throwing circle,Â
Charles Baker delivered a personal-best 16.44 meters in the weight throw last Saturday, placing third and cracking the program's top-10 list.Â
The Falcons claimed another first place finish in the high jump fromÂ
Yaih Marial, who cleared 2.04 meters to win the event outright at the Winter Classic.

Lauryn Schutz continues to lead the way in the throws for the Falcons. Schutz won the weight throw last weekend with a mark of 17.97 meters, clearing her own school record and posting one of the top marks in the region this season.Â
Ali Clifford followed suite, placing second in the weight throw (17.21 meters), good for second all-time in UWRF program history. Clifford also captured the event title in the shot put with a throw of 12.78 meters, good for another top-10 performance.Â
Annika Gunderson took first place in the pole vault at the Winter Classic, clearing 3.75 meters while
Abigail Biggs took second with a vault of 3.20 meters.Â
On the track,Â
Adison Wilde turned in one of the top performances of the meet in the mile last weekend, finishing second overall in 5:12.79, a mark that now ranks among the top-10 in program history.Â
In the sprints,Â
Brianna Strehlau placed second in the 60-meter hurdles finals (9.51) and runner-up in the 200 meters (27.27).Â
