VERONA, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team picked up a dominant road victory Wednesday evening, defeating Edgewood University 20–2 at Reddan Park in Verona, Wis.
The Falcons controlled the game from the opening minutes, scoring the first three goals and building a 7-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. UW-River Falls continued to extend its advantage in the second period, adding four more goals to take an 11-1 lead into halftime.
Elizabeth Clough led the Falcon offense with five goals, while Samantha Hayek finished with four goals and three assists. Avery Watzke added three goals and an assist, and Macy Patton contributed two goals and an assist. Megan Peter also recorded three points with two goals and one assist, while Natasha Berthiaume totaled five points with a goal and a game-high four assists.
UW-River Falls continued its offensive momentum in the second half, scoring six goals in the third quarter to push the lead to 17-1. Kinlee Knutson, Molly Pierce, and Averie McGill each found the back of the net during the game, helping the Falcons reach the 20-goal mark.
Defensively, the Falcons limited Edgewood to just five total shots in the contest. The Falcons also held advantages in ground balls (34-15) and forced 38 Eagle turnovers.
In goal, Annelise Rommeck picked up the win, playing through the fourth quarter before Abby Hammond finished the final 10 minutes for the Falcons.
UW-River Falls improves to 2–2 on the season with the victory.
