The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team continues its early-season stretch this week with a pair of nonconference matchups, beginning Wednesday night at 5 p.m. in Madison against Edgewood College before returning home Friday to host MSOE at 5 p.m. at Ramer Field.
The Falcons are coming off an impressive 16-2 victory over Cornell College in their home opener. UW-River Falls had seven first-quarter goals and never looked back, finishing with 48 shots and 39 ground balls. Samantha Hayek and Avery Watzke each netted four goals to pace the offense, while Elizabeth Clough added three. Defensively, the Falcons forced 41 turnovers and held Cornell to just five total shots.

THE SERIES
Wednesday's matchup marks just the second meeting all-time between UW-River Falls and Edgewood College. The Falcons won the inaugural contest 16-7 on March 24, 2025, in River Falls and hold a 1-0 edge in the series. UW-River Falls scored 16 goals in that meeting with Samantha Hayek scoring three and assisting on three goals while Brooke Glumack found the back of the net three times as well. Â
Friday, the Falcons will host MSOE for the first time after earning a 22-2 road victory in Milwaukee in 2024. UW-River Falls holds a 1-0 record against MSOE, highlighted Kinlee Knutson leading the Falcons with four goals while Samantha Hayek scored three times and assisted on three additional goals.Â

UW-River Falls enters the week with a 1-2 overall record, including a 1-0 mark at home. The Falcons are averaging 11.33 goals per game while allowing 12.33 through three contests.
