RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The No. 2 seed UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team closed out its 2026 season Sunday afternoon with a 22-8 loss to No. 1 Colorado College in the WIAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament Championship.
River Falls came out with strong early jumping ahead 3-1 in the opening quarter behind a pair of goals from
Molly Pierce and
Samantha Hayek's man-up goal. Colorado College responded
with a 5-0 run, closing the quarter on a hot stretch and never relinquishing control the rest of the way.
Avery Watzke led the Falcons offensively with a team-high three goals, while Hayek and Pierce each placed two.
Murphi Specht rounded out the scoring with a goal and an assist with
Brooke Glumack also contributing with an additional assist.
Colorado College's attack proved difficult to slow, placing eight different goal scorers on the board and outshooting the Falcons 35-18. The Tigers controlled possession throughout, winning the draw control battle 19-13.
Defensively, goalkeeper
Annelise Rommeck recorded nine saves in the afternoon effort.
Despite the result, UW-River Falls wraps up an impressive season with a 15-4 overall record, including a 7-1 mark in conference play and a runner-up finish in the WIAC Tournament. UWRF's 15 wins matches a program best, tying the 15 wins from the 2022 season.
