UWRF Women's Hockey earns first-round bye into NCAA Tournament, will host Quarterfinal on March 21

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Committee announced tonight the field of 13 teams that will compete in the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Championship, with UW-River Falls selected as an at-large bid while earning a first-round bye to host a quarterfinal game on Saturday, March 21.

UWRF will host the winner of Williams College and Plattsburgh State at Hunt Arena on Saturday, March 21 with a 3 p.m. puck drop. Detailed ticket information will be announced soon.

The reigning back-to-back national champion Falcons will be making their 17th NCAA Tournament appearance, earning an at-large bid after winning both the 2025-26 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) regular season and tournament titles. UWRF defeated UW-Eau Claire yesterday afternoon 4-0 to earn a seventh consecutive WIAC O'Brien Cup Tournament title.

The Falcons, who have been ranked No. 1 in the USCHO and DIII Hockey News Division III Women's Hockey polls the entire season, own a 27-1 overall record.
